World Liberty Finance (WLFI), the blockchain startup associated with Donald Trump’s family, is partnering with Ondo Finance in order to help speed up adoption of tokenized real-world assets (RWA). The integration of traditional finance into blockchain comes through the partnership with Ondo’s tokenized financial products.
Donald Trump’s WLFI Partners Ondo Finance
In the partnership, WLFI is looking at including Ondo Finance’s tokenized products such as the US Dollar Yield (USDY) token and Short-Term US Government Treasuries (OUSG) as reserve assets. The firm is also looking to incorporate these digital securities into its platform, which would unlock lending and margin trading features for clients.
World Liberty Finance, which has made significant Ethereum (ETH) investments, has recently turned its attention to Ondo Finance, suggesting a change in direction. The company recently invested $4.7 million USDC to purchase 342,000 ONDO tokens.
The purchase coincided with Ondo Chain, a permissioned Layer 1 blockchain designed for institutional-grade asset tokenization. With this investment, ONDO’s price trended upward, in contrast to general market performance where most of the major cryptocurrencies trailed.
Strategic Digital Asset Reserve Plan
WLFI has also disclosed that it plans to create a strategic reserve of various digital assets. At the Ondo Finance Summit in New York, WLFI co-founder Chase Herro made the announcement while outlining the company’s long-term goals for tokenization and decentralized finance (DeFi).
This project is in line with Trump’s growing interest in the cryptocurrency space, as he has proposed a national Bitcoin reserve and pushed for more transparent regulations governing digital assets. The most recent action taken by WLFI suggests that institutional adoption of blockchain-based financial instruments is becoming more widespread.
