Vice President Kamala Harris has confirmed for emerging technologies like AI and digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC) and other crypto. This pro-crypto stance could be beneficial for the virtual asset industry in case Harris wins the elections.

Kamala Harris Makes Pro-Crypto Shift

In a recent statement, Harris compared crypto to essential modern technologies, which “encouraged” pro-crypto Congressman Ro Khanna. Harris stated, “You can’t be against Bitcoin or crypto. It’s like saying I’m against the iPhone or…the laptop,” according to a post by FOX Journalist Eleanor Terrett.

Moreover, the Democratic presidential nominee also acknowledged the need for “smart regulation” in the industry but emphasized that digital assets represent “a modern store of value” and “a modern payment system.”

Furthermore, Harris also likened cryptocurrency to gold, particularly for younger generations., this may pave the way for a different direction for both market trends and crypto political betting activities. She stated, “It’s a modern version of gold for a lot of young people.” Her comments come as discussions around regulatory measures for the crypto industry continue to gain attention with the SEC engaged in a congressional hearing.

In addition, in her speech at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh the VP noted that her istration would prioritize industries of the future. She noted, “The third pillar of our opportunity economy is leading the world in the industries of the future and making sure America, not China, wins the competition for the 21st century.”

Ripple CLO’s Take on 2024 U.S. Elections

Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Stuart Alderoty recently revealed that they had been a part of both the Republican and Democratic conventions. “We have met with the Trump campaign. We have met with the Harris campaign,” he added.

Alderoty noted that the 2024 U.S. election is crucial for the crypto industry as it will determine how regulatory policies come into effect. He also spotlighted the clear and rigid stance of the Republican Party, referencing the Republican National Convention’s (RNC) statement on its platform.

“One paragraph clearly on crypto, saying we’re going to stop the U.S. war on crypto and make the U.S. the crypto capital of the world,” he noted. On the flip side, Harris and Democrats “privately have said that they are interested in hitting the reset button,” according to Alderoty.
